Alejandra Lopez-Zaballa

Alejandra (Madrid, 1974) is a professional Spanish and Mexican photographer, specialized in the photographic genres of street, travel, visual storytelling, and people/portrait. She begins her projects with a concept, a strategy that leads her to travel to those places where she can delve much deeper into the topics she wants to communicate and express through her passion.

London School of Photography and the ICP in NYC. She feels fortunate to have had great mentors like Mary Ellen Mark.

After 14 years dedicated to her professional career in Human Resources for American and British companies, in October 2011, Alejandra created her photographic company in Thailand. Two years later, she moved to Mexico City as a freelancer.

Having lived in 9 countries and visited more than 80 has contributed to her passion for giving a voice to people from many cultural and social backgrounds.

She currently resides in Madrid, and her work includes selling and exhibiting fine art photography, teaching workshops, giving corporate lectures, developing visual projects, and conducting corporate and personal photo sessions.

Her work, exhibited in Mexico City, New York, London, San Francisco, Madrid, Kuala Lumpur, Tampa, Braga, Sydney, Villahermosa, and Bangkok, has received international awards and mentions such as the Silver Award for her book “I dry my hair in the wind” by Paris Photo Prize 2024, 2nd Prize for Portrait/People by the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts 2024, 2nd Visual Story Prize 2024 by The Independent Photographer, Finalist for Best Portrait 2023 by Dodho Magazine, 2022 WSP Annual Exhibition in NYC, 2021 WSP virtual exhibit, Honorable Mention B&W Spider Awards 2017, Finalist at the SFO Street Photography Festival 2017, Art Takes Manhattan 2016, 3rd place single image Exposure Awards by LensCulture 2015, participation in PhotoEspaña Visionados 2015.

In 2022, she published her photo book “I dry my hair in the wind” about the girls from a foster home in Oaxaca. Alejandra is very interested in social projects that help improve the physical and emotional living conditions of people, especially children. Whenever she has the opportunity, she merges her photographic work with her social interest. She is the mother of two girls, aged 5 and 6.
